STA Coal Mining is offering exciting Learner Artisan and Apprentice opportunities for young, dedicated individuals interested in building a career in the mining and engineering

. Learner Miner

. Apprentice Boilermaker

. Apprentice Electrician

. Apprentice Fitter

General Requirements For The STA Coal 2025 Engineering Apprenticeships

. Grade 12 with N2 (Mathematics & Physical Science) - Minimum 50% pass rate (MUST HAVE).

. Self-motivated and committed to completing the programme within 2 years.

. 2 years' underground mining experience (advantageous).

. Ability to work shifts and adapt to a rotation schedule.

. Willing to relocate to the Witbank Hostel facility for theoretical training.

. Sober habits and a proven record in production, safety, and attendance.

. Must pass evaluation by senior employees.

. South African Citizenship is required.

. Clear criminal record.

Trade-Specific Requirements:

. Apprentice Boilermaker: N2 with Boilermaking & Engineering.

. Apprentice Electrician: N2 with Industrial Electronics & Electrical Trade Theory.

. Apprentice Fitter: N2 with Fitting including Machining & Engineering Drawing.

Apprenticeship programs

Learner Miner Requirements:

. Grade 11 or equivalent with Mathematics and Science.

. B Tech or M Tech in Mining Engineering (advantageous).

. Physical fitness and ability to work underground.

. Strong problem-solving skills, dedication, and teamwork ability.

. Must be 18 years or older and hold a valid driver's license.

. Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
